It’s the Mystery Machine on steroids! I love it! Why would someone build this!? Who knows, but I’m glad they did! This thing is glorious!
Majestic...
It’s built on a 4x4 Dodge chassis, and powered by a 318 V8, an automatic transmission, and a tractor rear axle. The ad doesn’t say whether it’s street legal or not, so I’m gonna guess that’s a nope. But I’m still happy that this thing exists. The BIN price is $15,900. WORTH EVERY DARN PENNY.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It takes a special kind of person to build something like this. I think I’d like to party with that person.

I bet I could get a road tag for it here in MN. We don’t have inspections, so kinda lik e the wild west of cars.
That said, that thing is 99% body lift, which I’m not a huge fan of. Awesome concept though!

Also, from the same seller (another fun game to play): Mad Max Buick?

Yeah, but I’m guessing this was not built on a huge budget or by someone with the fabrication skills to do a proper monster truck chassis. For a low-buck monster truck, it’s not terrible...

They couldn’t bob the frame?

such a crappy kit by today’ s standards. (and none too great by the standards of the day either)

I could only dream about owning one. My buddy got a Wild Willys, but he ruined it on the day he was showing it to me. He was sliding it around on the ice in the ditch , hit a soft spot and it fell through.
When I finally had money, I started off with planes, then got an RC10 so I could race against my cousin. His Grasshopper didn’t stand a chance. :)

My thought exactly. All of that custom work but then they skip on one of the simplest things to make this complete. That would be like doing a bobbed deuce by just removing the third axle and calling it a day.

Holy sketchiness . So many questions. Why are the leaf springs still on the van? How is the body attached to the frame? Is it attached to the original leafs? Car rims crudely centered and welded to tractor rims with flat plate and tube? Bar? Oh wait, now I see it, re bar, actual rebar. Why two size of tractor wheels/tires? Why not shorten the frame more ? I beam for a rear bumper?
Still awesome, still want.

I think the leaf springs on the rear of the van may still be there because the rear axle is from a tractor, in which case it likely doesn’t have suspension. So instead, the suspension is between the body and the frame, like in an 18-wheeler truck cab? It’s also probably worth mentioning that the ad says this was built primarily for show/display purposes and wasn’t meant for daily driving...
